New Worlds is not accepting new scholarship applications. This guide helps previous recipients check remaining funds and directs new applicants away from outdated application promises.

About this guide
An independent guide to New Worlds Scholarship Accounts, not an official application or an eligibility decision. Rules, application windows and available funds can change. Confirm your circumstances with the program before changing enrollment or committing money.
Existing balances only
SUFS is not accepting new applications because there is no new funding. Existing recipients may use remaining balances under the account rules. This is separate from the UF-administered New Worlds Reading book program.
Check the official program statusBefore you start
This is an existing-balance guide
Florida DOE states that no further New Worlds accounts are awarded effective July 1, 2025. SUFS says previous recipients may use remaining eligible funds. An old description of eligible ages or award amounts is not a current application offer.
Your next steps
Check whether an existing account is available
If your child previously received an award, use SUFS's account instructions to check the balance and account status. If there was no previous award, do not submit information to a site promising a new New Worlds grant.
Review current remaining-fund restrictions
Read the existing-recipient guidance for eligible reading and math uses and account-inactivity conditions. Confirm the approved purchase route before spending personal funds or relying on an older reimbursement instruction.
Ask SUFS about unresolved account issues
Use the administrator's official support resources for account access, remaining funds or eligibility questions. If you need a new scholarship, compare Florida's other programs separately rather than assuming the New Worlds account converts into one.
Preparation checklist
Use this to get organized. The current official application or handbook controls the full requirements.
- Previous award and account details, if any
- The current remaining balance and account notices
- Details of the proposed reading or math purchase
Submit identity, financial, student and medical records only through the verified official process. Do not upload application documents to ParentSurf or include them in a public review.
Important distinctions
- This guide does not advertise an open application cycle.
- New Worlds Scholarship Accounts are not the same program as the New Worlds Reading Initiative.
