About this guide
An independent guide to Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program (JPSN), not an official application or an eligibility decision. Rules, application windows and available funds can change. Confirm your circumstances with the program before changing enrollment or committing money.
Before you start
Review the school and non-school requirements
Schools must meet the stated charter, principal and recordkeeping requirements. Other participating businesses must provide special-education services through appropriately credentialed staff and comply with the required screening and safety standards.
Your next steps
Establish the required scholarship-system access
Follow Ohio's First Steps for Providers to create the account and request appropriate access. Select the Jon Peterson program when completing participation records rather than treating all Ohio scholarships as one approval.
Submit the provider and staff records
Complete the current registration process with the required organization, credential and background-check information. Check the department's Rapback resources and annual registration instructions.
Maintain approval and support student applications
Renew participation when required, keep staff records current and report student progress to the district. Help families submit the required application records and connect charges to the student's authorized services.
Preparation checklist
Use this to get organized. The current official application or handbook controls the full requirements.
- OH|ID scholarship access and JPSN provider registration
- School or business evidence and current staff qualifications
- Background checks, renewal calendar and progress-reporting procedures
Submit identity, financial, student and medical records only through the verified official process. Do not upload application documents to ParentSurf or include them in a public review.
Important distinctions
- An approved Autism Scholarship business is not automatically a JPSN provider.
- Provider approval does not establish a particular student's award or authorize unrelated services.
