Before you start
Nonpublic-school enrollment is essential
Iowa's program requires an eligible resident student to attend an accredited nonpublic school. It is not a general home-school curriculum grant. Income does not restrict the current universal pathway, but approval and enrollment requirements still apply.
Your next steps
Use the annual family application
Follow the Odyssey link from Iowa DOE. Returning families use their existing account, and a household can include multiple students. Check the current cycle: the published 2026-27 family application window ended June 30, 2026.
Finish school admission separately
Selecting a school in Odyssey does not enroll your child there. Complete the school's admissions process and review the portal's enrollment and tuition tasks, using Iowa's training resources if the account status is unclear.
Approve tuition before marketplace spending
Meet the program's enrollment and tuition-payment deadlines to retain the account. Tuition and fees come first; only eligible remaining funds may be used for approved marketplace expenses.
