About this guide
An independent guide to Georgia Promise Scholarship, not an official application or an eligibility decision. Rules, application windows and available funds can change. Confirm your circumstances with the program before changing enrollment or committing money.
Before you start
Check both the attendance zone and student history
Georgia Promise is not automatic statewide eligibility for every nonpublic student. Use the official attendance-zone list and pre-screen tool, then check prior public-school attendance or rising-kindergarten eligibility and the parent's Georgia residency requirement.
Your next steps
Confirm the semester and application window
Read the current family calendar. Georgia publishes specific application periods, and its spring eligibility and income rules differ from fall prioritization. An account login outside a window is not an application acceptance notice.
Submit through the family application route
Use the family login linked on MyGeorgiaPromise. Prepare the required residency, school-history and applicable income documentation, and answer requests from the administrator. New applications and returning-student recertification are different processes.
Plan education and authorized payments
After the decision, review the family handbook, testing requirements and eligible-expense list. Check the approved school or provider and the specific offering before initiating payments from the student's account.
Preparation checklist
Use this to get organized. The current official application or handbook controls the full requirements.
- The student's address and eligible attendance-zone result
- School-history or kindergarten-entry evidence
- Residency and income documents required for the application period
Submit identity, financial, student and medical records only through the verified official process. Do not upload application documents to ParentSurf or include them in a public review.
Important distinctions
- An address within Georgia alone does not establish eligibility.
- Do not use a previous semester's income or application rules without rechecking the current instructions.
