About We Can Be Heroes

We Can Be Heroes is a guided role-playing game for kids aged 9-15. Led by Dr. Kevin Mahoney, a retired Professor of Education, the game teaches a host of skills including group problem-solving skills, social skills, and critical/creative thinking through an exciting storytelling experience. Dr. Mahoney takes on groups of no more than 6 players for 10-week "seasons" comprised of 10 2-hour "episodes". A parent volunteers to host the group for their weekly episodes. Most children who play We Can Be Heroes find a safe, welcoming environment and establish real friendships with their fellow players. Parents usually report visible gains in one or more of the following areas; social skills, problem-solving, interest in reading or writing, application of mathematics, confidence, connection with peers, and inspiration to create stories on their own.
