What does it mean to think like an artist? In my fun and engaging individual or small-group art classes, I help kids develop a growth mindset through art-making! Kids who are given the freedom to explore and make decisions in the art room begin to think like artists—they feel empowered to experiment, and learn from their mistakes. For younger kids, my classes emphasize the open-ended exploration of materials and techniques, offering learners ample opportunities to make choices about what they create. They develop a strong art foundation, learning technical skills in a low-pressure environment where they are guided by their curiosity and imagination! My goal is for learners to leave my classes excited and eager to continue exploring art on their own. As one parent described my teaching: "Break out of step-by-step 'copy me exactly' art classes and experience the joy of well-kindled creative freedom." For older learners who wish to delve into realistic drawing, I can offer a solid foundation in drawing from observation - skills that can carry over into other types of illustration.
