About Sidekick To Hero
Sidekick to Hero is an online educational provider specializing in life skills and personal development for middle school students. Created by middle school teacher, teen success coach, and comedian Joey Mascio, the program helps students build confidence, resilience, emotional intelligence, healthy relationships, motivation, and real-world success skills through short, engaging video lessons and practical activities. The Sidekick to Hero curriculum includes courses on mindset, emotions, relationships, habits, goals, confidence, leadership, and becoming bullyproof. The program is designed to complement a student’s academic education by teaching the personal and interpersonal skills that help them succeed in school, at home, and throughout life. Sidekick to Hero directly supports multiple Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Health Education in Grades 6–8. Texas Health Education standards identify decision making, problem solving, goal setting, maintaining healthy relationships, developing a healthy self-concept, self-regulation, communication, and conflict resolution as essential skills for students. The Grades 7–8 standards specifically call for students to analyze the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, develop healthy techniques for managing emotional reactions, practice perspective-taking and conflict-resolution skills, evaluate influences on self-esteem, and develop strategies for setting long-term personal goals. These standards closely align with Sidekick to Hero’s curriculum and its focus on helping middle school students develop the social, emotional, behavioral, and decision-making skills necessary for lifelong success.
