About Mountain Shadows School, Inc
The unique character of Mountain Shadows is reflected in its setting. It is a small school, started in 1985, on a farm in the shadows of Grand Monadnock, the mountain which stands alone. The natural rhythm of the farm imparts meaning to the daily rituals of the work and play that are the core of the school community which recognizes that childhood is a time of climbing mountains, in which the process of the ascensions, the play and the tumbles, the curiosities and the dreams, the studying and the resourcefulness bring joy and delight to the summits. With a philosophical focus by teachers and students on the process of learning versus the products of work as well as the development of a robust work ethic, each student strives to achieve mastery in her or his academic and creative pursuits.
