The primary expected outcomes of the Lantern Light Camps program are for campers to: Gain self-confidence and self-reliance Campers will be exposed to new activities and situations. They will be encouraged to step out of their physical and mental comfort zones in a positive, “challenge by choice” environment. Increase interpersonal skills The camp environment fosters relationship-building and social interaction. Free play and group activities provide opportunities for peer connection not available in other settings. Gain an appreciation for the outdoors Campers will develop a sense of responsibility and appreciationfor nature. This will be achieved through specific programming and immersion in the natural environment. Foster a sense of curiosity and discovery Camp provides an opportunity to explore personal interests beyond highly structured daily routines. Campers will be encouraged to “eagerly search for what is over there,” fostering curiosity and exploration.
