My approach to teaching art is rooted in creating a supportive, encouraging environment where every student can have a positive and meaningful art experience. I believe that art gives each person a visual voice—a way to express ideas, emotions, and individuality beyond words. In my classes, students are invited to express themselves creatively, explore techniques and materials, and decompress through the creative process. We work with both traditional and unconventional materials to produce drawings, paintings, prints, and three-dimensional works of art, often inspired by artists and themes that connect to students’ own lives and experiences. I teach with the belief that everyone is an artist—skill grows through exploration and practice, not just innate talent. My role is to engage students in hands-on, meaningful activities that encourage risk-taking, reflection, and confidence. Along the way, students learn the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, gaining an understanding of how these concepts come together to create balanced, expressive works. Most importantly, students leave each class having discovered something new about art, themselves, and the power of creativity.
